A name, telephone number, or address entered into a search box is sent to the outside provider that supplies those results. Orange County Residents Directory does not retain a separate copy of those queries. If you email us, we receive the contents of that message and use them to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
The hosting environment can record routine log information such as IP address, browser type, viewed pages, and time of visit. We use aggregate patterns to maintain the service and understand page use. Basic analytics or advertising measurement can rely on cookies or similar technology.
How Limited Data Is Used
That information supports operation, troubleshooting, traffic measurement, and improvements to the reference. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.
External Resources
Links may lead to Orange County and New York portals, library collections, archives, or third-party search services. Their own privacy terms apply to anything submitted on those services. Sponsored results are also supplied by an outside provider.
Service Providers and Disclosure
Hosting and support providers may process the routine logs described above. Analytics or advertising partners can receive the associated automatic data. We disclose information when valid legal process requires disclosure, and otherwise do not share it for an unrelated purpose.
Safeguards
The service uses an encrypted connection, and routine logs are retained only for the needs described here. There are no site accounts, passwords, or user profiles stored by Orange County Residents Directory.

This reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from a person under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor supplied information, and we will remove it.
Your Choices About Data
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, or deletion of website-held information. New York had no comprehensive general online-tracking privacy law in the state guidance reviewed for this project, though consumer-protection rules still prohibit deceptive claims. Because we retain little, requests are usually limited to a contact message or routine log data. Use the Contact page to ask. A public record held by a New York, Orange County, or municipal custodian is outside our control and must be addressed to that custodian.
