1. Nature of the Service
Orange County Residents Directory is a private reference. It describes and links to public record routes, indexes, and historical collections relevant to Orange County, New York. It does not host government records and has no connection with any public office, court, library, or custodian.
2. Lawful Use Rules
Use the service only for lawful purposes. You may not use it, or a result reached through it, to:
- Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
- Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
- Commit identity theft or fraud
- Make any decision regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, including credit, employment, housing, or insurance decisions
- Scrape, copy, or republish the site's content at scale
- Interfere with the site's operation or security
3. No Consumer Reporting Service
This service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Its content and any linked search result are not consumer reports. They may not be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another FCRA-regulated purpose.
4. Third-Party Links
Official portals and third-party services, including sponsored search tools, operate under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control their content, availability, charges, or data practices.
5. No Warranty
The service is offered "as is" and "as available," without warranties. We do not promise that content is complete, current, or error-free, or that an outside portal will remain available or provide an accurate result.
6. Liability Limits
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or other damages arising from use of this service or a linked resource, including reliance on a record located through it.
7. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold the service operators harmless from claims or demands, including reasonable attorney fees, that arise from misuse of the service or a breach of these terms.
8. Intellectual Property
Original service text, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Links and short attributed quotations are permitted. Republishing full pages or systematically copying the content is not permitted.
9. Updates to Terms
We may revise these terms by posting a replacement version here. Continued use after a revision constitutes acceptance.
10. Access Restrictions
We may suspend or restrict access without notice when a user violates these terms or abuses the service.
11. Governing Law
New York law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Public-record access references are subject to New York Freedom of Information Law, Public Officers Law Article 6, §§84–90, and to the separate confidentiality laws governing each record type.
12. Severability
If a provision of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
